It is acceptable not to finish your plate. Kids are often told to finish everything on their plate and this can usually mess them up later in life in terms of weight issues. If you have leftovers, there’s nothing wrong with taking them home. Don’t feel the need to eat every last bite of food purely because it’s on your plate. Watch what you’re eating and stop when you begin to feel full.

For two reasons: first, your body’s metabolism will kick into high gear when it realizes that there will be fluctuations in what you’re eating; and secondly, you’ll discover that it doesn’t taste as good to you as it once did, and you can’t eat as much as you used to.
